Ryszard Filipowicz
My name is Ryszard Filipowicz. I was born in Wrocław in 1960. For the past 30 years, I have lived and worked in Szczecin.
I am a graduate of the Faculty of Mechanical and Power Engineering at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and also of the Private Academy of Photography led by Tomasz Tomaszewski. I am a photojournalist and a member of the Association of Polish Journalists (SDRP).
Photography entered my life in 2005. I began with advertising photography at my creative agency, Oskar Wegner, driven by a deep desire to see and showcase the more beautiful side of our reality.
Over the years, I have explored various forms of photography, but throughout it all, I remain captivated by the magic of image manipulation. I wander through layers of light and shadow, searching for painterly effects that encapsulate both time and emotion.
Masters of the lens, such as Tomasz Tomaszewski, Leszek Szurkowski, Ernesto Bazan, Michał Mrozek, and Jacek Poremba, have served as guiding lights, showing me the way to develop both my talent and craft.
I draw inspiration not only from the visual world but also from music, which has shaped my aesthetic sensitivity and understanding of harmony since childhood. Singing in a choir gives me a unique insight into the connections that can be created between different elements – sounds, colors, and forms.
I have exhibited my works twice: at the “12 gallery” in Gliwice in 2022, and most recently in Szczecin as part of Avenue of Cultures 2024 – Blending, a project by the Szczecin Artistic Agency carried out in partnership with the Pommersches Landesmuseum in Greifswald.
